After finishing up my awesome AM shoot in Telluride, I made the beautiful drive over to Ridgway, Ouray and Red Mtn. Pass, where the weather changed to driving snow. Thirty minutes later after driving through Silverton, the skies were blue once again. Typical Colorado weather, really. This shot is looking towards the Grenadier Range from the top of Molas Pass.

At the top of Molas Pass, I decided to put on the snowshoes and get a little ways from the parking pulloff. Good thing I had the snowshoes too. Even with them on, I  still sank more than fifteen inches in the fresh powder. The toughest part though was composing an image without snowmobile tracks in it.

After the great sunset on Molas Pass, I drove all the way back to Trout Lake, the same place I had slept the night before. I wanted to be near the same spot for sunrise as I had Saturday AM, since I felt that spot had a lot of potential. Sad to say, the spectacular sunrise I was wishing for never materialized. I had about thirty seconds of color right at sunrise, and then it was gone. Oh well, I decided to shoot a few shots anyway, going for the more monochromatic look.
